STONY BROOK, N.Y. — Stony Brook women's basketball wrapped up its three-game homestand with a decisive 75-50 win over Georgian Court. The Seawolves were led by a 21-point performance from
Janay Brantley, helping Stony Brook wrap non-conference play with a wire-to-wire victory over the Lions.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Seawolves jumped out to a quick 5-0 advantage following a three-pointer by Brantley with 8:26 remaining. Stony Brook extended its lead into double digits late in the first following a layup by Caitlin Frost. Georgian Court responded with an 8-3 run to close out the first as the Seawolves took a 20-15 lead into the second quarter.
Stout defense dictated the second quarter, as both teams kept each other at bay for the entire quarter. Stony Brook was able to take a five-point lead into the half, thanks to seven points from the free throw line.
After a Lion three-pointer trimmed their deficit to four at the 8:51 mark of the third quarter, the Seawolves quickly responded with a 14-4 run, sparked by strong offensive play from Brantley. scoring nine points in two minutes and 30 seconds, helping Stony Brook establish a 48-34 lead with 5:28 remaining in the third quarter.
The Seawolves wrapped up the third in a similar fashion with a 10-3 run, taking a 58-37 lead into the final quarter of play.
Picking up where it left off, Stony Brook carried its momentum into the fourth, opening the quarter on a 15-4 run to take a commanding 73-41 lead with 4:05 left to play, as the Seawolves went on to cruise to a 75-50 victory.

- Stony Brook held Georgian Court to just two three-pointers on 13 attempts; the Seawolves have now held their opponents to under 20% shooting from deep in two straight games.
- The Stony Brook defense forced 21 Lion turnovers, scoring 28 points off of them.
- Brantley led all scorers with 21 points, as she went 7-of-9 from the field and hit all six of her free throw attempts.
- Chloe Oliver was the Seawolves' other double-digit scorer as she notched 12 points coming off the bench.
