Guzman and Goslar Event Wins Headline Impressive Performances for Women's Track & Field at Giegengack Invitational

NEW HAVEN, Conn. The Stony Brook women's track and field team wrapped up the indoor regular season on Saturday with several strong performances at the 18th annual Giegengack Invitational. As a team, the Seawolves produced seven top-eight finishes headlined by event wins by Amelie Guzman in the 3000m and Shaylen Goslar in the 1000m.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Guzman continued her stellar season at the Giegengack Invitational, winning the 3000m with a 9:51.43 clocking. The win marks Guzman's third consecutive meet in which she's competed with an individual victory. 
  • Goslar raced to a first-place finish in the 1000m. Her time of 2:50.77 was a new PR and established a new team season best.
  • Danielle Cirrito finished second in the 3000m with a new PR clocking of 9:54.68.
  • Rebecca Clakcett took third in the 1000m race, setting a new PR at 2:55.75.
  • Miranda Gatto placed fourth in the 3000m with a final time of 10:03.49 to set a new PR in the event. 
  • Logan Barasalow ran to a solid fifth-place finish in the 1000m, setting a new PR at 3:02.62.
  • Alejandra Garcia finished seventh in the 1000m; her time of 3:03.29 was good for her PR in the event.
  • Six of the seven Seawolf runners who produced top-eight placements recorded new PRs in their events.

"Today, we got some really nice final tune-up runs for the conference meet in two weeks," said head coach Andy Ronan. "Great run by Shaylen in the 1000m. The group in the 3000m led by Amelie also showed signs of being in a good place at this point."

UP NEXT
With the indoor regular season now over, Stony Brook will turn its focus to championship season, which will kick off on Feb. 26 and 27 at the CAA Indoor Championships in Virginia Beach, Va.
