Women's & Men's Track & Field Earn USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors, Gilstrap Earns Individual Honors

STONY BROOK, N.Y. After another strong semester in the classroom, the Stony Brook men's and women's track and field teams were honored for their academic achievements during the 2025 season. Earning All-Academic status from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

The women's team finished with a 3.31 GPA, and the men's team with a 3.21, to earn this year's academic honors.

To qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period.

In addition to both teams receiving their All-Academic honors, sophomore Collin Gilstrap achieved individual All-Academic honors as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Athlete.

The Sophomore health sciences major qualified for the NCAA first round and had a 3.27 cumulative GPA to garner the All-Academic Athlete distinction. During the 2025 outdoor season, he also successfully defended his CAA crown in the 1500m, taking gold for a second consecutive season. Gilstrap also broke his own program record in the 1500m at the Wake Forest Invitational with a time of 3:40.94.

In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships (the Preliminary Championship Competition and/or the Final Championship Competition) or must have finished the season ranked in the top 48 in the East or top 48 in the West for the most recent outdoor season, certifiable by place on the NCAA Division I descending order list on TFRRS for Outdoor Track and Field.
