Weigele Named USTFCCCA All-Academic as Men's and Women's Teams Both Honored

STONY BROOK, N.Y. - The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced its annual individual and team academic awards on Monday, with Grace Weigele being named an All-Academic Athlete while both the men's and women's squads were named All-Academic Teams.

In order to qualify for individual All-Academic distinction, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships (the Preliminary Championship Competition and/or the Final Championship Competition) or must have finished the season ranked in the top 48 in the East or top 48 in the West for the most recent outdoor season, certifiable by place on the NCAA Division I descending order list on TFRRS for Outdoor Track and Field. 

Weigele qualified after competing in the 5000-meter in the NCAA East Regionals. She also took home the silver medal in the event at the CAA Outdoor Track & Field Championship. In the classroom, Weigele finished with a cumulative GPA of 3.93 on the year.

To qualify for Team All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period. The women's squad finished with a 3.50 GPA this year, while the men finished with a 3.34.
