STONY BROOK, N.Y. — Stony Brook saw five track and field athletes take home CSC Academic All-District honors on Tuesday as
Steven Struk,
Peter Fogarty,
Shaylen Goslar,
Danielle Cirrito, and
Grace Weigele were all recognized.
The 2025 Academic All-District® Track & Field teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the track, in the field, and in the classroom.
Student-athlete were eligible for nomination based on the following criteria: at least a sophomore academically and athletically, at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and either a top-50 individual performance at the 2024 NCAA Cross Country regional competition or a top-50 regional ranking in single event (indoor or outdoor track and field).
On the men's side, Struk had a pair of top-50 finishes in the 5,000m (14:08.43) and the 10,000m (30:31.44) during the outdoor season, while Fogarty placed 14th in the 3,000m steeplechase (8:57.97) in outdoor competition as well.
As for the women, Goslar had the most top-50 finishes with six: the 800m (2:10.64), mile (2:46.74), and the distance medley relay (11:43.57) during the indoor season, and the 800m (2:10.25) and 1,500m (4:2.84) during the outdoor season. She also had the lone cross country qualifying time of the group with her 43rd-place finish in the 6K (20:53.2). Weigele posted five top-50 times: the 3,000m (9:10.93), 5,000m (16:07.12), and the mile (4:50.11) during indoor competition, and the 1,500m (4:26.26) and 5,000m (15:57.24) outdoors. Cirrito was top-50 in the 5,000m (17:03.66) in the outdoor season.
