RICHMOND, Va. –
Charlotte Wilmoth,
Avery Hines, and
Julia Fusco of the Stony Brook women's lacrosse team claimed CAA weekly honors as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon. Hines earned her fourth CAA Defensive Player of the Week nod this season, while Wilmoth and Fusco were tabbed Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively.
Wilmoth led the Stony Brook squad with 12 points on 10 goals and two assists in a pair of double-digit victories for the Seawolves. Against Vermont, the graduate transfer recorded a team-high five goals and one assist before closing out the week with five goals, one assist, two ground balls, and one caused turnover over the William & Mary Tribe. Wilmoth has tallied a team-high nine multi-goal games this season and ranks second in the CAA in scoring with 38 total goals and 4.36 points per game.
Hines anchored a strong defensive effort for Stony Brook as she tallied seven caused turnovers and seven ground balls. She collected a team-high five caused turnovers against Vermont to reach 100 career caused turnovers, becoming the fifth player in program history to achieve this milestone. She also added four ground balls in the Seawolves' 20-5 win over the Catamounts. To close out the week, she collected three ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers, while the Stony Brook defense held William & Mary to just three goals. Hines leads the CAA in both caused turnovers (3.27) and ground balls (2.64) per game.
J. Fusco racked up five points on three goals and a pair of assists, dishing out an assist against Vermont and registering a career-high three goals along with one assist in the Seawolves' 20-3 victory over William & Mary to start 3-0 in CAA play.
Wilmoth, Hines, Fusco, and the Seawolves close out their three-game homestand at LaValle Stadium on Friday, April 4 at 6 p.m. against Monmouth on Senior Day. Stony Brook leads 6-0 all-time in a series dating back to 2007.
