Wilmoth & Hines Claim CAA Women’s Lacrosse Weekly Awards

RICHMOND, Va. – Stony Brook graduate attack Charlotte Wilmoth and senior defender Avery Hines earned CAA weekly honors as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon. Wilmoth was named the CAA Player of the Week after putting up 12 goals and 19 points across three games, while Hines was tabbed CAA Defensive Player of the Week for the sixth time this season.

Wilmoth led the Stony Brook squad across a three-game week, scoring 12 goals on 26 shots, shooting .462 and putting 20 of her 26 shots on goal (.769). She took home her second CAA weekly honor with 19 points on 12 goals and seven assists for the Seawolves. She currently ranks second in the league with 4.53 points per game.

Against No. 5 Princeton, Wilmoth tallied two goals and two assists along with one ground ball in Stony Brook's 19-13 setback. She then eclipsed her 200th career point, scoring a team-high five goals with two assists in the Seawolves' 18-8 victory over Elon. She closed out the week with an offensive explosion, recording a season and team-high eight points on five goals and three assists to defeat Campbell, 19-12 and continue Stony Brook's perfect record in CAA action.

Hines continued to dominant defensively, totaling nine caused turnovers and seven ground balls through three games for the Seawolves. Against Princeton, she tallied a pair of caused turnovers and one ground ball before collecting a personal best six ground balls and a team-high four caused turnovers in a 18-8 win over Elon. She later added three caused turnovers against Campbell to help the Seawolves to a 6-0 mark in CAA play. She leads the league in caused turnovers (3.33) and ground balls (2.73) per game, while ranking third in the nation in caused turnovers.

Wilmoth, Hines, and the Seawolves return to Long Island for their home finale at LaValle Stadium on Friday, April 18 at 6 p.m. as they face off against undefeated Drexel for the regular season CAA title.
