Lobo-Corral Named CAA Player of the Week After Perfect Weekend

RICHMOND, Va. – After leading Stony Brook to a pair of wins over NJIT and Hofstra, sophomore Elena Lobo-Corral has been named CAA Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office this afternoon.

This marks Lobo-Corral's second weekly honor of the season. She was previously named to the CAA Doubles Team of the Week alongside freshman Mila Charles on Feb. 11. She's also the first Seawolf to earn CAA Player of the Week honors since sophomore Mia Palladino received the nod on Feb. 27, 2024.

Lobo-Corral was dominant in singles play last week, helping Stony Brook notch a 4-3 win over NJIT and a 6-1 victory against Hofstra. Playing at No. 2 singles against NJIT, she battled pastPaula Menendez Alvarez, 6-4, 7-5, halting her four-match winning streak. She then stepped up to the No. 1 spot against CAA rival Hofstra, where she rolled to a 6-2, 6-2 win over Lea Forste-Dinell.

With five wins in her last six matches, Lobo-Corral has been a major spark as the Seawolves have reeled off four straight victories—their longest winning streak since the 2022-23 season.

Stony Brook returns to action on April 17, hosting Monmouth its final CAA regular season match. The Seawolves are 2-0 all-time against the Hawks, dating back to 2023.
