STONY BROOK, N.Y. – As the anticipation builds for the start of the 2025 volleyball season, Stony Brook volleyball head coach Kristin Belzung has announced six incoming student-athletes that make up the 2025 signing class for the Seawolves.
"We're proud to welcome this talented and athletic group of freshmen to the Stony Brook Volleyball program," stated head coach Kristin Belzung. "As a class, they represent a wide range of backgrounds and experiences, and they each embody the values we hold at the core of our program. This is a large group with the potential to make an immediate impact, and we're confident they'll integrate seamlessly into the culture we've built—not just within our team, but across the athletic department and the university as a whole."
The 2025 class features student-athletes from across the country with one each from Florida, Oklahoma, Texas, Nevada, California and a Long Island native.
Ava Zamora | S | 5'10" | San Diego, Calif. | Coast Volleyball
Zamora was a four-year letterwinner and two-year captain at Westview High School in San Diego, Calif. She recorded 862 assists, 668 kills, 410 digs, 120 aces, and 98 blocks as a setter for the Wolverines. She was named Second Team All-League in 2022 and First Team All-League in 2023 and 2024, while also being selected as an All-League Academic Scholar honoree. The 5'10" setter competed with Westview in the D1 State Championships during three of her four seasons, making it to the top-eight in Open CIFs with the Wolverines. Zamora also played club for Coast Volleyball.
Lola Ojo | MH, RS | 6'0" | Jenks, Okla. | Tulsa Power Volleyball
Ojo, a native of Oklahoma, was a three-year letterwinner and one-year captain at Jenks High School. She registered 485 total kills on .321 hitting, while notching 218 blocks, 98 digs, and 40 aces during her career and broke the single season program record with 106 blocks. Ojo was a 2023 Frontier Valley Conference Second Team selection and was named the 2024 Frontier Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Year. She also earned 6A State Championship All-Tournament Team, Tulsa World Player of the Year finalist, and All-State Team honors. Ojo and the Trojans were 2022 Class 6A State runner-ups, 2023 Frontier Valley Conference Champions and Class 6A State Champions, and three-time regional champions. Ojo also played club for Tulsa Power Volleyball.
CJ Block | L, DS | 5'8" | Seaford, N.Y. | Academy Volleyball
A highly decorated athlete and Long Island native, CJ Block was a four-year letterwinner and one-year captain at Seaford High School. She broke the program record for career digs with 1,003 total, while tallying 841 kills and 204 aces throughout her high school career. She was a four-time All-County and All-State selection, 2022 All-State Tournament Team and Class B MVP and two-time All-County Tournament Team honoree, 2022 Newsday First Team All-Long Island and two-time Newsday Second Team All-Long Island selection, Three-time Newsday Top 50 player, and 2024 AVCA All-America Honorable Mention and AVCA Best and Brightest. Block and the Seaford Vikings won the 2021 and 2022 County Championship and the 2022 Long Island Championship. Block also played eight years of club for Academy Volleyball.
Avery Meide | L, DS | 5'7" | Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. | Jacksonville Juniors Volleyball Association
A member of the AVCA Phenom Class of 2025 and the ninth ranked libero in the state of Florida, Meide was a four-year letterwinner and one-year captain at Ponte Vedra High School. She registered 1012 career receptions, 428 digs, and 76 during her time with the Sharks. She was a three-time district champion and 2021 regional champion and 6A state runner-up with Ponte Vedra High. Meide plays club volleyball for the Jacksonville Juniors Volleyball Association.
Lei Lasike | OH, MB | 6'2" | Las Vegas, NV. | Top Flight Volleyball Academy
From Sin City to Long Island, Lasike attended Shadow Ridge High School where she was a four-year letterwinner and two-year captain for the Stallions. She totaled 58 kills on 206 attempts through her senior season, along with 56 blocks, 26 digs, and six assists. In prior seasons, the 6'2" outside hitter/middle blocker was named the 2021 and 2022 MVP. Lasike also played club for Top Flight Volleyball Academy.
Aajaylah Zeno | OH, MB | 5'9" | Plano, Texas | Dallas Premier Volleyball Club
A three-year letterwinner and one-year captain at Plano West Senior High, Zeno averaged a .316 hitting percentage with 2.9 blocks per game. She was named the 6-6A Blocker of the Year, 6-6A First Team, Allen Texas All-Tournament and Battle of the Rock All-Tournament, and Offensive MVP. Zeno also played club for the Dallas Premier Volleyball Club where her team found themselves on the podium twice, earning second and third place at the USA Nationals.
Stony Brook has reached seven postseasons under head coach Belzung and looks to continue their successful run in the CAA, entering their fourth season in the league.
