Seawolves Complete Weekend Sweep at Hampton

HAMPTON, Va. - The Stony Brook volleyball team got the job done in just three sets today (25-7, 25-13, 25-14) as it swept both the match and the weekend from Hampton on Saturday in Virginia.

Stony Brook is back over .500 on the year at 7-6 overall and 3-1 in CAA play.

The Seawolves attack was paced by Kali Moore, who finished with 14 kills on the day, and by Quinn Anderson, who had 10. Moore's .542 hitting percentage was her highest since posting a .556 as a rookie back in 2022.

How It Happened

SET 1 | In their most dominant set of the season, the Seawolves won the first point and held the lead the rest of the way to secure the first set 25-7. Stony Brook led by 19 points at 24-5 before finishing off the set, totaling 15 kills while only notching two attack errors along the way. Anderson led the way with five kills, followed closely by Moore with four,. The centerpiece of the set was an 11-0 scoring run that saw Zayda Fuertez notch three aces and Lola Ojo pick up two kills.

SET 2 | Stony Brook took the second set 25-13 to swiftly jump to a 2-0 lead. The Seawolves once again scored first and never trailed in the set to secure the victory. After a close start that saw Stony Brook leading just 8-5, a 6-0 run soon made it 13-5 to effectively put the set out of reach. Six Hampton attack errors helped facilitate the win, while the Seawolves conversely posted a .444 attack percentage during the set, led by Moore who went 7-for-8 on attempts.

SET 3 | Stony Brook finished off the match in a 3-0 sweep after taking set three 25-14. Pinpoint serving helped the Seawolves win the set after logging another five aces. Unlike the first two sets, Hampton actually kept it close for a bit, holding a 10-9 lead at one point. The Seawolves quickly retook control of things, however, with an incredible 13-0 scoring run that saw Ava Zamora and Rayanne Wheat each post back-to-back service aces while Moore and Lei Lasike had two kills apiece.
