RICHMOND, Va. - Ahead of her second season with the Seawolves,
Crimson Rice has been named to the Preseason All-CAA Team as the top utility player/pitcher. Also announced on Tuesday was the preseason rankings, with Stony Brook being picked first in the CAA North Division.
Rice impressed in her debut season last year, making 29 appearances (21 starts) and going 10-7 with a 3.39 ERA, plus the ninth best BAA in the league at .260. She was even better in conference play, posting an 8-3 record with a 2.84 ERA. Rice's eight complete games and four shutouts both led the team, with three of her CGSOs coming in conference play against Hampton, Monmouth, and Drexel. She also totaled 10 straight appearances allowing two earned runs or less from March 25-April 18.
As for the team as a whole, the Seawolves just edged out Hofstra for first place in the new CAA North Division thanks to having one more first place vote. Behind the Seawolves and the Pride in the north are Towson, Monmouth, and Drexel. Between both the north and the south divisions, Stony Brook was ranked fifth out of 11 teams. In 2025, the Seawolves offense ranked second in the CAA with a team AVG of .307 and third in OBP at .384, while the pitching slotted in at sixth in ERA at 4.26.
