Seawolves Cannot Slow Tigers in Road Loss

TOWSON, Md. - In the penultimate road trip of the season, the Seawolves could not comeback from an early deficit as they fell to Towson 69-57

How It Happened

  • Neither team was able to get much going offensively in the opening five minutes of the game, with the Tigers being held to six points while Seawolves did not get on the board until 15:59 on an Erik Pratt triple.
  • Halfway through the opening frame and the score remained low at 14-11 with Towson on top. Pratt remained the team's highest scorer with five of the 11 points, while Ethan Simmon, Tomas Valentiny, and Oleg Kojenets contributed the remainder. Meanwhile, the Seawolves defense had held the Tigers to zero made threes in this span.
  • Over the final 10 minutes of the half, the Seawolves were outscored 25-12 as they headed to the locker room down 39-23. Jonah Butler contributed six of the 12 for Stony brook.
  • Following an opening bucket from Rob Brown III, Towson soon rattled off six in a row to take a 20-point lead just 90 seconds into the half.
  • Two minutes later, Goods managed to cut the deficit back down to 14 with back-to-back threes. Both teams traded buckets from there, with the Seawolves unable to go on an extended scoring run as they trailed 54-41 with 10 minutes remaining.
  • Despite Brown scoring on back-to-back possessions with a logo three and a driving layup, Stony Brook could not slow Towson's attack as the score stagnated at 60-48 with five minutes left. Though the Seawolves were eventually able to cut it down to a 10-point game off a Quin Gorman three-pointer, it was too late to get the team back into it as they fell 69-57.

Stats and Notes

  • All of Brown's points came in the second half today as he recorded his 13th double-digit scoring game of the season with 10 points.
  • Butler also finished with 10 points, as well as ending the night as the team's leading rebounder with six. He also paced the team with two blocks.
  • Pratt's 10 points tonight now give him 23 games this year in double figures.
