Both teams traded blows to open the third with a pair of quick baskets each. Towson would give itself some breathing room later in the quarter, going on a 10-4 run, and pushing the Tiger lead to 56-45. This 11-point advantage was short-lived for Towson, as the Seawolves scored the final seven points of the third quarter to make it a 56-52 game in favor of the Tigers going into the final quarter.
