NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. - Competing in their third game in less than 24 hours, the Seawolves were unable to make it three wins in a row as they were bested 9-2 by Iona on the road.
How It Happened
- Rachael Brown continues her hot streak as she got things started in the first with an infield RBI single to quickly make it 1-0. The Gaels would get that run back in the bottom of the inning, though, off a solo home run from Brianna Fischer.
- After stranding two to end the first, Aubrey Jepson tossed a 1-2-3 inning in the second, before Melissa Reed came in to pitch the third and promptly retired the side in order.
- Iona would take its first lead of the day in the fourth after three of the first four batters all reached base safely. Despite loading the bases, however, the Gaels would only come away with one run as Reed struck out two to end the inning.
- Madelyn Stepski would tie the game at 2-2 in the top of the fifth after lacing an opposite field RBI single, only for Iona to come right back with two more runs in the bottom of the inning to go up 4-2. The Gaels added in another five runs in the sixth to extend their lead to seven and put the game out of reach.
Stats and Notes
- Brown went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a walk today. In the first three games this week, she is so far 6-for-9 with four RBIs, four runs, and has reached base eight times in 11 plate appearances.
