Janay Brantley Earns All-CAA Second Team Distinction

RICHMOND, Va. — Stony Brook's Janay Brantley was tabbed to the All-CAA Second Team, as announced by the league office on Wednesday morning. The all-conference honor is the first of Brantley's career.

Brantley appeared in 26 contests for Stony Brook, making 22 starts during the regular season. She averaged a team-best 12.4 points per game, the 13th-best mark in the CAA. Overall, Brantley shot better than 36 percent from the floor and 82.3 percent from the charity stripe, a career-best mark and the fourth-best percentage in the conference. The junior from Catskill, New York finished top-25 in the league statistically in points per game, assists per game, field goal percentage, free throw percentage, three-point field goals per game, blocks per game, steals per game and minutes per game.

Brantley produced 16 double-digit scoring efforts during the regular season, including four 20-point performances. In addition to leading the team in scoring average, Brantley was top-five on the squad in field goals, three-pointers, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks.

The Seawolves begin conference tournament play, facing one of No. 13 UNCW, No. 12 Northeastern or No. 5 Monmouth in the second round on Friday, March 13. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:30 pm from CareFirst Arena in Washington, D.C., streaming live on FloCollege.
