STONY BROOK, N.Y. - The Seawolves dropped their first game of the season at home on Sunday after falling 5-2 in the series finale against Hampton
How It Happened
- Following a scoreless first, the Seawolves struck in the bottom of the second on a two-out, two-strike solo home run from Naiah Ackerman.
- The lead did not last long, though, as the Pirates tied it in the top of the third, before taking the leading in the fourth on their first home run of the day.
- Hampton would homer again in the fifth and sixth to extend the lead to 5-1. In the bottom of the sixth, Ella Hayes led off the inning with a first pitch double to right. She would come around to score on a two-out single from Ashlyn Burgess.
- Despite getting two runners on in the bottom of the seventh, the Seawolves would come away empty handed as they went on to fall 5-2.
Stats and Notes
- Rachael Brown extended her hitting streak to six games after singling in the first. She is 9-for-17 during this streak.
- Burgess went 2-for-3 with an RBI today, ending the three-game series at 7-for-10 with three RBIs.
- Ackerman's home run was her first of the season.
- Aubrey Jepson, who started today, ends her week with four starts, 16.2 innings pitched, 15 strikeouts, and five earned runs allowed.
- Jayci Finch also made four appearances this week and totaled 16 innings, 12 strikeouts, and five earned runs.
