FAIRFIELD, Conn. — Stony Brook men's lacrosse earned a 16-10 victory on the road at Fairfield, moving to 2-1 in CAA play. The Seawolves were paced offensively by Kian McCoy's eight points. Four different Seawolves, including McCoy, netted hat tricks.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Stags started the scoring, tallying the first two goals of the contest. Fairfield held Stony Brook scoreless for nearly seven minutes before Justin Bonacci scored from distance with 8:22 remaining in the opening stanza.
- Another Bonacci goal evened the game at 2-2. Collin Williamson answered a Fairfield goal, tying things again with 19 seconds to play. The Stags scored once more as time expired, taking a 4-3 lead into the second.
- Will Consoli made it 5-3 in the opening minute of the second quarter, but it was all Seawolves from that point on.
- Stony Brook ripped off six straight goals, holding the Stags scoreless for the final 14-plus minutes of the first half. Six different Seawolves netted goals during the run. Goalie Tommy Wilk got in on the fun, earning an assist on a Brian Bradley goal after a long outlet led Bradley to cage on the other end.
- Fairfield's scoring drought ended at the 11:37 mark of the second half, trimming its deficit to three goals, 9-6.
- Stony Brook continued to pile on however, scoring five of the next six goals in a span of 15 minutes to construct a 14-7 advantage.
- Fairfield pulled within five goals on two occasions in the fourth quarter, but no closer. Jack Cavalieri completed his hat trick to ice things and close the scoring with 1:48 to play.
STATS AND NOTES
- McCoy led all scorers with eight points on three goals and five assists. His five assists and eight points marked career highs, and the hat trick was the second of his career.
- Bonacci, Cavalieri and Williamson also netted hat tricks. McCoy, along with the aforementioned trio, accounted for 12 of Stony Brook's season-high 16 goals.
- Wilk made 14 saves, making it four straight games for the senior with double-digit saves. He also added an assist on the offensive end in what was his fifth win of 2026.
- Sean Carlo scored a goal and tallied an assist, marking the first multi-point effort for Carlo since March 2, 2024.
- Bradley extended his point streak to six straight games with his goal.
