STONY BROOK, N.Y. - The Seawolves secured the series victory over Towson on Saturday as they held on for the 6-3 win.
How It Happened
- The Seawolves were the first to strike in the bottom of the second as Malorie Hill led off the inning with a double down the right field line. After an error moved her to third she would score on a soft grounder off the bat of Naiah Ackerman. Marissa Thalassinos immediately followed up with an RBI single to left center to grow the lead to 2-0.
- Jayci Finch was sharp to begin her day, striking out four in the first three innings to keep Tigers off the board.
- Towson would briefly tie the game on a two-run home run in the top of the fourth, but the Seawolves responded in the bottom of the inning as Thalassinos beat out an infield single while Karri Pritchard managed to score all the way from second.
- The Tigers would again knot it up with another home run in the fifth, only for Stony Brook to again come right back in the bottom half of the frame and retake the lead for good. After three-straight walks opened the inning, Hill singled through the right side to plate two, followed by the third RBI single of the day from Thalassinos to make it 6-3.
- Crimson Rice came in to close out the final two innings of the game, working around a couple of singles in a scoreless second, before retiring the side in the order in the seventh to earn the save.
