STONY BROOK, N.Y. - The Seawolves opened their second series of the season against Hofstra on Friday, falling 3-0 to their rivals.
How It Happened
- The game was scoreless through the first two innings, with Jayci Finch retiring her first five batters in order. After drawing a lead-off walk in the top of the third, though, the Pride were able to scratch out one run on an RBI double.
- Finch remained solid after allowing the run in the third, tossing two more scoreless frames in the fourth and fifth without allowing a hit.
- The Pride added to their lead in the sixth on a lead-off home run to make it 2-0, before going up by three in the seventh on a groundout.
- A one-out double from Ella Hayes in the bottom of the sixth would be the team's first hit since the second inning and its third time they got a runner in scoring position. Unfortunately, the Seawolves were unable to bring her home and later went down in order in the seventh.
Stats and Notes
- Finch struck out four batters today, bringing her career total to 153.
- Hayes went 2-for-3 today, increasing her hitting streak to nine games (15-for-31). This is her fifth multi-hit game during the streak.
- Naiah Ackerman led off the bottom of the second with a double, giving her 23 in her career.
