STONY BROOK, N.Y. - Backed by a pair of two-run home runs from Josie Alfano and Madelyn Stepski, the Seawolves pulled off the comeback victory over St. John's today 4-3 to wrap up the homestand.
How It Happened
- The Red Storm came out to quick 2-0 lead in the top of the first with four of the first five batters recording a hit. After getting the final two outs of the frame and stranding a pair, Jayci Finch settled in and fired three scoreless innings through the fourth to keep it a two-run game.
- In the bottom of the fourth win one on and one out, Alfano came to the plate and tied the game up with her first career home run on a liner to left.Â
- Though St. John's briefly retook the lead on an error in the top of the fifth, the Seawolves came right back in the bottom of the inning on a two-out, pinch-hit home run from Stepski to make it 4-3.
- With the team leading for the first time all day, Aubrey Jepson, who came in to finish off the fifth, blanked the Red Storm over the final two innings to complete the comeback.
