ELON, N.C. - Stony Brook and Elon now sit at a game apiece this weekend as the Seawolves were defeated 9-2 on Saturday.
How It Happened
- Taking advantage of two Seawolves errors, the Phoenix took a 6-0 lead in the bottom of the first, providing all the offense they would need on the day.Â
- A solo home run from Naiah Ackerman briefly cut the lead down to 6-1 in the top of the third, but Elon cashed in on another run in the bottom of the inning to keep it a six-run game.
- After Mia Vannelli led off the inning with a single, a sacrifice fly from Marissa Thalassinos would bring in the second run of the day for Stony Brook in the fourth.
- The Seawolves would go hitless over the remainder of the game as Elon scored two more in the sixth to put the game away for good.
Stats and Notes
- Ackerman now has four home runs this year and 16 in her career. She also ends the day with 90 career RBIs.
- Thalassinos is now 5-for-9 with two RBIs over her last four games.Â
