STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Stony Brook football captain and redshirt senior linebacker
Anthony Ferrelli earned the first preseason honor for the Seawolves ahead of the 2026 season, as he was named to the 2026 Stats Perform FCS Preseason All-America Team on Monday morning.
Ferrelli was one of 11 players from the Coastal Athletic Association to earn preseason All-America recognition and was selected to the Third Team at linebacker.
The California native is coming off a standout 2025 campaign in which he earned CSC Academic All-District honors while serving as a team captain. Ferrelli recorded a career-high 109 tackles (52 solo, 57 assisted), ranking fifth in the CAA and 23rd nationally in the FCS in both total tackles and tackles per game. He also added 6.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, his first career interception, a forced fumble against Fordham Rams football, and three pass breakups.
Ferrelli recorded at least four tackles in every game, reached double figures five times, and posted a season-high 16 tackles with two tackles for loss against Maine Black Bears football. His 109 tackles tied for the third-most in a single season in Stony Brook program history.
Entering the 2026 season, Ferrelli has appeared in 33 career games, totaling 225 tackles, 15.5 tackles for loss, eight pass breakups, two fumble recoveries, one forced fumble, and one interception during his time on Long Island. He enters the year just 98 tackles shy of the program's all-time record and needs 34 more tackles to move into the top 10 in program history, passing Dom Reyes.
The Seawolves open the 2026 season on August 27 when they travel to Dover to face Delaware State Hornets football for the first meeting in program history.
