STONY BROOK, N.Y. — Stony Brook men's lacrosse head coach Anthony Gilardi announced that Quintin Germain has been promoted to assistant coach. Germain served on Gilardi's staff last season as a coaching consultant, helping guide Stony Brook to its first-ever CAA Championship and first NCAA Tournament berth since 2012.

"We're extremely excited to promote Quintin to a full-time assistant coach and defensive coordinator. Since joining our program, he has made an immediate impact on our players, our staff and the way we operate every day. Quintin brings tremendous energy, knowledge and a genuine commitment to developing our student-athletes both on and off the field," Germain said. "He understands the standard and culture we are building at Stony Brook, and he has earned this opportunity through the work and value he brings to our program every day. We're fired up to have him continue to help push Stony Brook Lacrosse forward."

In his new role as assistant coach, Germain will also serve as defensive coordinator. Last season in working with the defense, Germain was essential in the development of CAA Co-Rookie of the Year Kyan East, as well as All-CAA honoree Ryan Dodge.

"I'm beyond grateful for the opportunity Coach Gilardi has given me over the last two years — he's believed in and trusted me from day one. I love sharing a sideline with him, Coach Chanenchuk, Coach Fallon, and this group of players; this staff and this team push each other every single day, and that's what makes this program special to be a part of," Germain said. "We built something real last year, and I'm looking forward to continuing to build on that success and that standard.
