Annapolis, Md. - Stony Brook completed a perfect 3-0 weekend in the Kristen Dickmann Invitational on Sunday as they capped things off with a 3-0 sweep (25-16, 25-20, 25-22) of the host Navy.
For the second consecutive match, Ella Sanders posted a double-double with team highs in kills (18) and digs (11). Quinn Anderson was also in double figures with 13 kills, while Zayda Fuertez was tied for the lead in digs with 11 as well.
How It Happened
SET 1 | The Seawolves got off to a blistering start to thew afternoon as a 9-0 scoring run quickly gave them an 11-2 lead. Anderson and Ayanna Pierre Louis accounted for five of those points with a combined three kills and two blocks. With Sanders providing seven more kills after the run, the Seawolves cruised to a 25-16 victory in set one.
SET 2 | Stony Brook's offense did not miss a beat in the second, opening on a 3-0 run before taking a 15-10 lead at the half. Anderson added another four kills to her stat sheet, while Damisi Osibodu picked up a trio of blocks. Meanwhile, Sanders continued to lead the attack with three more kills to reach double-digits on the day and secure another set for the Seawolves.
SET 3 | Thanks to back-to-back aces from Taryn Su, Stony Brook again started off the set 3-0. Unlike the first two sets, however, the Seawolves' lead did not last long as Navy responded with a 7-2 run to take their first lead of the day. Three kills apiece for Anderson and Sanders would take the lead back at 14-10, only for the Midshipmen to respond with a 7-0 run to pull back in front. Stony Brook was not out of it yet, however, as a kill and an ace from Sanders helped retake an 18-17 lead. She and Anderson would combine for another five kills to bring it to match point, setting up Pierre Louis to close things out with the team's ninth ace of the day.
Notable Stats
- Sanders now has two double-doubles on the season and 14 in her career. She ends the tournament with an even 50 kills and 40 digs.
- Defensively, Osibodu had five total blocks today, bring her weekend total to a team-leading 21. Meanwhile, Fuertez ended up with the team lead in digs with 47.
- Su paced the setters in assists with 77 across the three matches, as well as leading the way with six aces.
- As a team, Stony Brook had 25 this week, totaling nine each against Coppin State and Navy.

The non-conference slate concludes next week with the Rutgers Invitational. Competition begins on Thursday, September 10, when the Seawolves take on Rutgers at 6 p.m. They will then face Rider on Friday at 3 p.m. and finally Delaware on Saturday at 3 p.m. All three matches will be streamed live on Big Ten Plus.
