Stony Brook, N.Y. - Jeanette Akerlund's two goals led Hartford to a 2-1 victory over Stony Brook in America East action Thursday afternoon at University Field. The win improves Hartford's record to 6-2 overall, 3-0 in conference play while Stony Brook falls to 0-6-2, 0-3-1 in the America East.

Akerlund got the Hawks going in the 15th minute, connecting from 20 yards out on a looping shot that went over the outstretched hands of Seawolves' goalie Lori Nelson to give UH a 1-0 advantage. Akerlund struck again 4:19 later, putting home a loose ball in front of the Seawolves goal for her second tally of the game.

Jessica Enes got the Seawolves on the board at 84:36, knocking home the rebound of a Kerri McCabe shot that hit the left post and bounced back out in the penalty area. The Seawolves pressed for the tying goal but were unable to get the equalizer.

Hartford outshot Stony Brook 19-6 and Anne Lise Nilssen made two saves to earn the win for the Hawks. Nelson made eight saves for Stony Brook.

The Seawolves are back in action against America East foe Vermont at home on Saturday. Kick-off is 11:00 a.m.
