McGowan Helps Towson Bury Stony Brook, 66-51

Towson, MD -- - Jill McGowan hit a career-high six three-pointers and collected 23 points, leading Towson (3-21) to a 66-51 upset of Stony Brook (16-11) at the Towson Center Monday night. The Seawolves lost for just the second time in eight games while the Tigers snapped a six-game skid.

Stony Brook held a 42-38 adavantage on a Sherry Jordan three-pointer with 9:30 to go, but Towson rode the back of McGowan's three, three-pointers and Mia Chapman's jumper, executing a 13-0 run to take a 51-42 lead with 6:40 to go. Theresa LoParrino's three-pointer got the Pack to within 53-48 at the 4:28 mark, but the Pack could get no closer.

The Seawolves - who shot 33% from the field in the second half - led by five on separate occasions in the second half. Maggie Triggs' three-point play with 13:56 to go made it 35-30 and Sherry Jordan's made free throw gave the Seawolves a 37-32 advantage.

LoParrino led the Seawolves with 17 points including four three-pointers and Maggie Triggs had 10 points. Danielle DeGiorgio collected a game-high 10 rebounds.

Mia Chapman had 17 points for the Tigers and McGowan also had eight rebounds.

The Tigers spoiled Stony Brook's bid for consecutive 18-win seasons. The Seawolves finish the season at Columbia February 27 at 7:00 p.m.
