Lacrosse Rolls Over Manhattan, 13-4

April 25, 2001

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Kevin Pall scored four goals and Matt Campolettano netted three as Stony Brook won its third straight game with a 13-4 win over Manhattan in a non-conference lacrosse matchup Wednesday afternoon at Seawolves Field. With the win, Stony Brook improves to 6-6 while Manhattan falls to 5-9.

Campolettano got the Seawolves on the board at 9:07 of the first quarter, knocking home a rebound to give SB a 1-0 lead. Pall, the nation's leading scorer, scored five minutes later and the Seawolves held a 2-0 advantage.

Manhattan crawled back into the game on goals from Chris Garlich and Brian Crimmins and later tied the game at three when Ken Rose netted his first of the game with 3:08 left before the half.

The Seawolves then took control by scoring 10 of the next 11 goals en route to their third straight win, their longest win streak of the season. Steve Armsworthy made seven saves for Stony Brook to earn his fifth win of 2001. James Amandola made 18 saves for the Jaspers.

Rose led the Manhattan attack with two goals while Crimmins added a goal and an assist.

Pall entered the week as the nation's leading scorer and now has 46 goals on the year. He needs three more to break the school's single-season record of 48 held by John Warrack. The win gets the Seawolves to the .500 mark for the first time in 2001 and they haven't been at the break-even mark this late in the season since 1998.

Stony Brook is back in action on Saturday when its hosts No. 16 UMBC at 1:00 p.m. The game will be taped and shown on MSG on Sunday, April 29 at 7:00 p.m.
