Stony Brook, N.Y. - The Stony Brook women's cross country team received votes in the NCAA Division I Women's Cross Country national poll and climbed in the regional poll, both released Monday, Oct. 7.

Two weeks ago, the Seawolves received a vote in the national poll for the first time in Stony Brook history. This week, after the Seawolves' impressive performance at the Metropolitan Championships, Stony Brook had six votes in the poll. Brigham Young ranked first in the nation.

The Seawolves also climbed two spots to No. 5 in the Northeast Regional poll released by the Woman's Intercollegiate Cross Country Coaches Association. Boston College is No. 1 in the region.

Stony Brook received the accolades after its runner-up finish at the MET Championships on Friday, Oct. 4. Four Seawolves finished in the top 10, with senior Jenny Payne, sophomore Leonora Joy and junior Jackie Nunez finishing second, third and fourth, respectively.

The Seawolves return to action this weekend at the Iona Quad Meet.
