Matt Logie scored 20 points and Zlatko Savovic added 18 as Lehigh earned a 54-48 win over Stony Brook Monday afternoon at the Indoor Sports Complex. The win improved Lehigh to 6-3 while Stony Brook dropped to 5-4.
After shooting only 31 percent in the first half, the Mountain Hawks found their offensive rhythm behind Logie who scored 16 of his game-high 20 points over the final 20 minutes. Trailing 27-23 in the second half, Lehigh went on a 7-2 run capped by a Savovic layup to take a 30-29 lead. Lehigh would never trail again.
The Mountain Hawks built the lead to 11 at 48-37 with 4:29 to go before SB closed the gap. Stony Brook mounted a late rally and a Cori Spencer layup with 1:19 remaining sliced Lehigh's lead to 51-48. After a turnover, Hendrik Feist's three-point attempt was off the mark and the Seawolves would get no closer the rest of the way.
Spencer finished with his first career double-double, totaling 18 points and 12 rebounds. Stony Brook was undone by 22 turnovers and 33 percent shooting. The Seawolves shot only 2-for-10 from three-point range.
Stony Brook is back in action on December 31 when it travels to take on Seton Hall. Tip-off is 1:00 p.m.
