NEW YORK (AP) - Bobby Santiago scored 17 points and Mike Orfini added 14 as Stony Brook beat winless Columbia 65-56 Wednesday night, the Lions' ninth straight loss.

Columbia (0-6) lost its final three games last season and has dropped 13 of 14.

Santiago scored 13 points in the opening 15:54 as the Seawolves took a 28-18 halftime lead.

Stony Brook (3-2) scored the game's first six points before the Lions went ahead briefly, 7-6, on Marco McCottry's dunk. But JonPaul Kobryn scored on an offensive rebound to put the Seawolves back ahead, and they never trailed again.

McCottry had 12 points and 10 rebounds for Columbia, which was missing three starters with various injuries, while Jeremiah Boswell and Tito Hill each had 11 points.

Hendrik Feist had 10 points for the Seawolves.
