Game Backdrop:* Stony Brook wraps up the 2001-02 home schedule tonight against Boston University. The Seawolves played a total of nine home games this season.

* After tonight, there will be one regular season game remaining on the 2001-02 slate before the Brook heads to Boston for the America East postseason tournament on March 2. The Seawolves still have a chance to move as high as sixth in the standings before the week is out.

* Stony Brook has won two of its last three and is currently tied for sixth with in-state rival Albany.

Versus Boston University: BU owns a 1-0 series edge after a victory back on January 12.

Macarchuk Versus BU: Macarchuk is 6-9 against the Terriers all time.

Last Time Out: Stony Brook used a 13-2 run early in the second half to take a commanding lead en route to a convincing 85-70 win over Northeastern on Sunday. Freshman JonPaul Kobryn was outstanding as he hit his first 12 shots of the day and finished 14-of-16 from the floor to notch a season-high 28 points and six rebounds. D.J. Munir fell just short of a quadruple double with 13 points, 14 assists, eight steals and seven rebounds. Jairus McCollum pitched in with 19 points.

Seawolves In February: The Seawolves are 6-10 in February since moving to the Division I level.

Home Versus Road: The difference in the Seawolves' play at home compared to the road is drastic this season. SB shoots 43.5 percent from the field at home, 37.8 from three-point range. On the road, the shooting percentage dips to 38.8 and 30.4 from downtown. As a result the Seawolves score an average of 62.2 points per game at home compared to 59.1 on the road which has resulted in a negative 3.3 scoring margin at home as opposed to a negative 15.2 point scoring margin on the road.

First Things First: The Northeastern win was sprinkled with many first time occurrences for the Seawolves: * first time that SB has shot over 50% from the field in 2001-02 * first time that SB had more turnovers than its opponent and won * first time SB has scored 80 or more points * first time that SB has won with the opponent scoring 70 or more points. The Seawolves are 1-13 in those games.

Four By Four: Munir almost pulled off a rare quadruple double against Northeastern. He finished with 13 points, 14 assists, eight steals and seven rebounds. The 14 assists and eight steals set new career highs for the sophomore.

One Shy: Munir's 14 assists fell one short of the school record of 15 set by Mel Walker in 1977.

Almost Perfect: JonPaul Kobryn was just that against Northeastern on Sunday. He hit his first 12 shots from the field and finished 14-of-16 for the day to notch a career high 28 points. It was the first 20-point game of his short career and the most that any freshman has scored in a game at the Division I level. His efforts earned him America East Rookie of the Week honors. Kobryn was the second Seawolf to earn the honor. Mike Orfini did so earlier this year.

The Dog Days: The Seawolves are 1-4 this season against teams with a dog for its mascot.

Patrick's Day: Junior Patrick Spitler has been inserted into the starting lineup in the last four games and has given the Seawolves an emotional lift. Last Friday, he notched his first career double-double, a 10-point, 11-rebound performance in the overtime loss to Hartford. He followed that with four points, six rebounds and four assists versus Northeastern. In his four starts he has averaged 5.8 points, 6.5 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game. The Seawolves are 2-2 with him in the starting lineup.

Two For Six: Should the Seawolves win the final two games of the season, it would assure them of the sixth seed in this year's America East tournament. As things stand now, that would mean SB would play Hartford in the first round.

Jennings Has Surgery: Junior guard Larry Jennings underwent surgery on February 8 to repair his broken left foot which did not heal properly after he broke it back in October. He is expected to be out of action for 12 weeks.

The Last Time - Versus BU: Rashad Bell scored a career-high 21 points to lead Boston University past Stony Brook 90-54 on January 12 With BU up by 10 late in the first half, Stony Brook pulled to within 33-26 on a 3-pointer by Mike Konopka with 3:38 remaining. But Bell responded by hitting a basket and his first three-pointer of the season. The Terriers put the game out of reach with an 18-2 run midway through the second half that gave them a 68-37 lead with 9:45 remaining. Bell sparked that run with three consecutive baskets. Dawud Munir and JonPaul Kobryn each scored 11 points for Stony Brook.

Reaching 500?: Stony Brook has a minimum of three games remaining this season and Munir stands 72 points away from reaching 500 for the season. Should the season be limited to three games, he would need 24 points per game to reach the plateau. That feat has only happened 11 times in school history - by eight different players. His 427 points currently ranks as the 23rd best single-season effort in school history. At his current pace, he would finish with 478 points which would move him up to 15th on that list.

Mikey Likes It: Mike Konopka came up big on February 15 against Hartford. The sophomore scored a career-high 24 points and grabbed seven rebounds. His clutch three-pointer with four seconds left in regulation sent the game into overtime.

Hit The Boards: How important is rebounding? The Seawolves have outrebounded their opponents six times this season -- they are 4-2 in those games.

The 700 Club: Munir now has scored 728 points in almost two seasons, becoming the first player since moving to the Division I level to score 700 or more points in two seasons. In doing so, he became only the ninth player in school history to accomplish the feat. Here is a list of the players who have scored 700 or more points in their first two seasons at the Brook: 1. Emeka Smith 1,170 2. Art King 999 3. Tom Blumbergs 894 4. Earl Keith 888 5. Steve Hayn 863 6. Charlie Bryant 791 7. Dave Burda 771 8. Bill Myrick 767 9. D.J. Munir 728 (min. 3 games left)

Better Late Than Never: D.J. Munir had connected on only one of his first 10 shots against Maine on February 10 but made his final two attempts count when it mattered most. With SB trailing 53-52, Munir drilled a three-pointer from the top of the key to give the Seawolves a 55-53 lead. He then sealed the win with a jumper with 15 ticks on the clock to help SB sweep the Black Bears.

Homebody?: Before the home game against Hartford, freshman JonPaul Kobryn seemed to prefer to play all of his games on the road. He is averaging 9.1 points and 3.6 boards per game on the road as opposed to 4.8 points and 2.5 rebounds at home. In the last two games, he has averaged 21.5 points and six rebounds per game.

Say Hey Jay: Jairus McCollum scored 19 points vs. Northeastern on Sunday, his second best effort of the season. The Seawolves are 14-3 when he scores in double figures.

Highway Robbery: Munir set a new career-high against Northeastern with eight steals. He is now leads the conference in steals at 1.80 per game. An All-Conference Guy? D.J. Munir has been the man for Stony Brook all season long and his numbers bear that out. He leads the team in scoring (17.1), assists (4.1), free throw shooting (.884) and is second in rebounding (4.1). He now ranks first in the America East in free throw shooting, first in steals, first in assists and third in scoring.

Sunday Drive: Stony Brook would like to play all of its games on Sundays. The Seawolves are 3-0 on Sundays this year.

A Close Shave: In games decided by eight or less points, the Seawolves are 4-7
