Final Stats

Boston, Mass. - Sophomore forward Marisa Moseley had game-highs with 15 points and six rebounds as the B.U. women's basketball team defeated Stony Brook, 62-48, on Thursday night at Case Gymnasium.

Winners of three-straight and eight of their last 10, B.U. traded baskets with Stony Brook (13-11, 6-7) for the opening minutes before the Terriers took a 14-13 lead at 10:20 off a fast-break lay-up from Moseley. B.U. would not give up the lead for the remainder of the game.

Senior guard Annie Tomasini hit two free throws and three-pointer from the far right corner in the final two minutes of the first half to give the Terriers a 35-23 lead going into the break.

Stony Brook inched back into the game midway through the second, with Sherry Jordan scoring seven of her team-high 14 points after the intermission to cut the lead to 49-42 at 6:12.

But Moseley quieted the Seawolves, converting back-to-back three-point plays in the paint and blocking a three-point attempt by Stephanie Barlett at 4:53.

B.U. outscored Stony Brook 13-5 to close out the game, with Moseley scoring seven during the run.

The Seawolves had the advantage on the glass, outrebounding the Terriers 33-28 but BU forced SB into 26 turnovers.

Jordan also finished with six rebounds and Sarah Burkett pitched in with seven points and six boards. Stony Brook, which has lost four of its last five, will try to get back on the winning track on Sunday when it plays host to in-state rival Albany. Tip-off is 1:00 p.m.
