Vermont has won the top seed for the America East Men's Basketball Championship, which begins with quarterfinal and semifinal games on March 2 and 3 at Northeastern's Matthews Arena.
The Catamounts defeated Hartford, 75-66, on Sunday to finish the regular season at 13-3 in America East. Boston University was also 13-3 in the conference, but Vermont earns the top seed by virtue of its 2-0 record vs. the Terriers in the regular season.
Albany is the No. 6 seed while Northeastern University is the No. 7 seed. Stony Brook is the No. 8 seed. Albany, Northeastern and Stony Brook all tied at 5-11 in the conference and split the season series versus each other. Albany was awarded the No. 6 seed based upon its record vs. the conference standings in descending order. The Great Danes had defeated the top-seeded Catamounts. Northeastern earned the No. 7 seed based upon its win over Hartford.
