Men's Lacrosse Upends Delaware, 11-7

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Kevin Pall scored four times and Denis Scannell added a pair of goals and three assists to lead Stony Brook to an 11-7 non-conference win over Delaware on Saturday. The game marked the final regular season contest to be played at Seawolves Field as Stony Brook will begin play in a new stadium next season.

Stony Brook raced out to a 3-0 lead in the first quarter, but Delaware bounced back with three of their own in the second quarter to send the game into halftime at 3-3. Sean Farrell gave Stony Brook a 4-3 advantage scoring only 47 seconds into the quarter, but Scott Evans evened the score three minutes later with his second goal of the game. Scannell gave the Seawolves the lead for good, breaking a 4-4 tie at the 9:51 mark. Farrell and Pall added tallies sandwiched around a goal by UD's Evans to make the score 7-5 heading into the fourth quarter.

Pall sealed the win for the Seawolves in the fourth, scoring three man-up goals to record his 12th multiple-goal game of the year. The game was a penalty-marred affair as a total of 20 penalties were called on the afternoon. The Blue Hens were flagged 13 times for a total of 12:30 in penalty minutes while the Seawolves were hit for seven penalties for 4:30.

Evans led the Blue Hens with four goals on the afternoon. David Mullen made 15 saves in a losing cause.

For the Seawolves, Farrell notched his first career hat trick while Steve Armsworthy totaled eight saves for his seventh win of the season. The win improved Stony Brook to 8-5 on the year while Delaware lost its ninth straight game to fall to 2-9.

The win closed the door on the 19-year history of Seawolves Field, giving Stony Brook an 81-49 record all-time on its home field. Stony Brook finishes out the regular season when it travels to UMBC next Saturday. Face-off is 7:00 p.m.
