Boston, Mass. - Northeastern rallied for a 73-70 victory over visiting Stony Brook in America East action on Wednesday night. The Huskies closed out the game on a 13-2 run over the final 4:29 to improve to 4-12 on the season and 2-3 in conference play. Freshman Katarina Andersson led the Huskies with a career-high 19 points.

Trailing 68-60 with 4:29 left, Husky junior Melissa Kowalski hit two consecutive three-pointers in less then a minute to trim the lead to two, 68-66. Francesca Vanin would hit two free throws to tie it up before Stony Brook took its final lead of the night, 70-68, on a Sherry Jordan jumper. With 1:53 remaining Kowalski (17 points) hit her fifth and most important three of the night to put the Huskies up for good 71-70.

With Northeastern up 34-33 at the half the Seawolves opened up the second stanza on a 9-3 run and took a 42-37 lead with 17:29 remaining. Stony Brook would remain on top until sophomore Lizzie Demor stripped the ball and lead a breaking Maralene Zwarich who finished off the play with a layup to put NU up 58-57 at the 9:15 mark.

A Jordan (17 points, 8 rebounds) lay-in would give the visitors the lead right back on the next possession. The Huskies were down by as many as eight points before they mounted their game-ending run.

The first half saw 13 lead changes and seven ties in a see-saw battle. All nine Huskies that played scored in a balanced attack in which NU's bench outscored Stony Brook's reserves 18-8. Jordan, the reigning America East Co-Player of the Week, led all scorers with nine as the Seawolves turned 13 Husky turnovers into 12 points.

Northeastern controlled the boards outrebounding Stony Brook 39-27 for the game. Andersson added seven rebounds as she connected on 7-8 field goal attempts while junior Joi Jefferson was the only other Husky in double figures with 11 points. Stony Brook falls to 4-12 overall and 2-3 in conference play with the loss.
