Women's Soccer Falls To Maine 3-0

Orono, Maine - The Stony Brook women's soccer team lost its fifth straight contest Sunday afternoon as Maine handed them a 3-0 defeat. The Seawolves drop to 5-9-1 on the season and are 1-4 in America East play while Maine improved to 10-1-1, 5-0-1 in conference action. It marked the eighth shutout of the season for the Black Bears, a new team record for a season.

Maine got the first goal of the game at 3:41 in the first half when senior forward Kate Crawford crossed the ball in front of the goal to sophomore Heather Hathorn who put the ball into the left side of the net. At 44:09 in the first half junior Allison Kelly took a corner kick and placed it perfectly for senior Jen Buckely to score her first goal of the season.

Maine scored their third of the game at 51:26 when sophomore Erin Corey scored an unassisted goal for her first goal of the season.

Sophomore Cindy Bennett had 11 saves in 67 minutes of action and sophomore Lauren Kohn had three saves over the final 23 minutes of the game.

The Seawolves are back in action on Friday afternoon when they host Vermont. Kick-off is 3 p.m.
