Box Score

WEST POINT, N.Y. - D.J. Munir scored 26 points, leading three Stony Brook players in double figures as the Seawolves snapped a three-game losing streak by defeating Army 69-44 Thursday night at West Point's Christl Arena.

Munir, who entered the game shooting just 27.1 percent from the field, connected on 11 of 18 shots from the floor, helping Stony Brook (2-3) to 45.6 percent shooting as the Seawolves dealt the Black Knights (3-5) their third successive loss.

Leading 13-9 with 7:34 remaining in the first half, Munir and Mike Popoko scored six points apiece in a 16-0 Stony Brook run that pushed the lead to 29-9 with 2:52 left until the break. Both Munir and Popoko hit two three-pointers each in that surge while Mike Orfini contributed the remaining four points.

A Matt Bell bucket to open the second half brought Army to within 14 points at 31-17, but that would be as close as the Black Knights could get as Stony Brook steadily pulled away, twice grabbing 28-point leads in the final four minutes.

Cori Spencer scored 13 points for Stony Brook and Orfini added a dozen. Army, which shot just 28.0 percent from the floor, received team highs of nine points and six rebounds from freshman Adeniyi Amadou.

Bell, also a freshman, added seven points and five rebounds as Army received 36 of its 44 points from freshmen.
