HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (AP) - D.J. Munir scored 13 of his 27 points in a 21-8
second-half rally that gave Stony Brook a 70-69 victory over Hofstra on
Saturday.
Kenny Adeleke had 20 points and 12 rebounds for Hofstra (3-5), which was
playing at home for the first time this season.
Adeleke had five points in a 17-7 run that gave the Pride their largest lead
of the game, 53-44, with 13:45 left.
The Seawolves (3-3) answered with the big run that put them in front 65-61
with 4:19 to go. Munir's three-point play closed the rally.
Hofstra closed within 67-65 on a jumper by Danny Walker with 3:01 left, but
Munir hit a 3 one minute later.
Gibran Washington's jumper and two free throws by Wendell Gibson got the
Pride within 70-69 at 1:05. Mike Orfini of Stony Brook missed a 1-and-1 with 10
seconds left. Hofstra grabbed the rebound but Washington's jumper from 15 feet
bounced off the rim.
