Final Stats
The Stony Brook women's lacrosse team slipped to 2-1 in America East conference play Friday afternoon with a 19-5 loss to Boston University. The Seawolves are now 7-6 overall while the Terriers improve to 9-4 and remain undefeated in conference play.
Stony Brook was done in by an early BU run that saw the Terriers score nine unanswered goals to open the game. Christine Graziano got things started when she scored the first goal of the game at the 27:09 mark. Graziano would go on the score three more times during the 16 minute run and finished the game with four.
Marrisa Tractenberg broke the scoreless streak for the Seawolves at the 12:23 mark with her unassisted goal. Jill Gridley and Joanna Katz would each net Seawolf goals before the break to make the score 11-3. Boston University would go on to score eight goals from eight different players in the second half. Stony Brook's Kerri McCabe would tally a score in the second as would Danielle Werner to make the final 19-5.
Both Beth Arikian and Trachtenberg played well on defense. They each collected four ground balls for The Brook. Werner was the team leader in caused turnovers with three and Gina DeNezzo tallied six saves in goal.
The Seawolves are back in action Tuesday as they travel to Wagner to take on the Seahawks at 4 p.m.
