The Wagner women's lacrosse team used a 7-1 run in the first half to break open a 2-2 game en route to an 18-7 win in non-conference action on Tuesday afternoon. The loss was the third straight for Stony Brook which slipped to 7-7 on the year.
The two teams traded the first four goals of the game with both of Stony Brook's goals coming off the stick of Jill Gridley. Wagner then put together a 7-1 run before Stephanie DeGennaro's goal with 12 seconds remaining in the half trimmed the home team's lead to 9-4 at the break.
Wagner once again put together a big run to start the second half to put the game away. Stony Brook received a pair of goals from Gridley, DeGennaro and Danielle Werner. Marrisa Trachtenberg also added a goal.
Stony Brook is back in action on Friday when it travels to New Hampshire for a conference matchup with the Wildcats. Face-off is 3:30 p.m.
