Volleyball Tops Bucknell 3-2

Final Stats

The Stony Brook Volleyball team won its second match of the weekend, defeating Bucknell 3-2 by scores of 30-25, 26-30, 28-30, 30-25, 15-12, to win the Bison Scramble in Lewisburg, Pa. The Seawolves' Tesha Harry and Rachel Goldsmith were both named to the all-tournament team.

Stony Brook was led by Harry, who tallied 20 kills and six blocks and hit .459, Maria Samilo, who chipped in 16 kills, and Julie Zub, who notched 59 assists. Goldsmith added 14 kills in the victory.

The Seawolves won the opening frame, 30-25, but the Bison battled back to win game two, 30-26, and game three, 30-28. Stony Brook, however, captured the Bison Scramble by prevailing in game four, 30-25, and game five, 15-12.

With the win, the Seawolves improved to 4-8 on the year, while Bucknell dropped to 4-7.

Stony Brook returns to action on Thursday when they host Manhattan at 7:00 p.m.
