Women's Cross Country Captures First Place At Seawolves Invitational

Sept. 6, 2003

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Led by senior Jackie Nunez, who took home the individual title, the women's cross country team opened the season with a win at the Seawolves Invitational at Sunken Meadow Saturday afternoon. Nunez finished first in a time of 18:51.7 for the 5k distance and was followed home in second place by teammate Leonora Joy in a time of 19:28.6.

Junior Laura Hixson also had a strong start to her season by taking 4th place with a time of 19.39.9. The scoring five was complete by solid runs from Lauren Gengo and freshman Liz Carlson, they finished 24th and 25th respectively.

On the men's side of things, Dale Summerville (16:28.4) and Brian Farrell (16:31.6) got their seasons off to a strong start by taking 3rd and 4th in the men's 5k to help the men to a fourth place finish.
