Seawolves Outlast Albany In Overtime 65-61

STONY BROOK, N.Y. (AP) - Mike Konopka scored 13 points and Mike Popoko had 12 points and 11 rebounds for Stony Brook in a 65-61 overtime victory over Albany, N.Y. on Wednesday night. D.J. Munir's three-point play with 5.1 seconds remaining in regulation knotted the game at 51 and sent it to overtime.

Cori Spencer had 12 points for the Seawolves (6-10, 3-4 America East), who led 40-22 at halftime.

Albany stormed out of the locker room, scoring the first six points of the second half that was part of a 22-5 run to pull with one point at 45-44 with 10:20 to go.

The Great Danes continued to stifle the SB offense and finally tied the game at 50 on a layup by Levi Levine at the 3:26 mark. Albany went ahead 53-52 on a Courtney Johnson three-point play and then held a 55-52 advantage in the final minute before Munir's heroics in the waning seconds.

Courtney Johnson had 17 points for the Great Danes (3-13, 1-6), who lost their fourth straight and eighth of nine, while Jon Iati added 13.

Popoko had two free throws and Konopka had a layup as Stony Brook took a 59-55 lead with 2:36 left in the overtime. Iati's 3-pointer with 56 seconds to go got Albany within one, but Spencer had four points as the Seawolves closed the game with a 6-3 run.

Johnson and Chris Wyatt each had five points as Great Danes opened the second half with a 22-5 run that got them within 45-44 with 10:30 to play.
