Women's Soccer Falls to UMBC 2-1

Baltimore, Md. - UMBC's Mary Hearin broke a 1-1 tie to secure win over the Seawolves in Friday afternoon's America East match-up in Baltimore.

With the loss, the Seawolves fall to 5-6-3 overall and 2-2 in conference play, while the Retrievers' first conference win improves their record to 5-7-0, 1-3-0.

UMBC struck early at the 7:03 mark on a Kersha Walter header from an indirect kick by J.J Golibert. Stony Brook's Jacqueline Anthony evened the score as Victoria Feliciano blocked a UMBC clear, giving Anthony a clear shot on goal.

The game was knotted until Hearin headed in a corner from Amy Morrison at the 88:14 mark to give the Retrievers the victory. UMBC goalkeeper, Robin Babaris made five saves, while Stony Brook's Cindy Bennett turned away two Retrievers' shots.

The Seawolves are back in action Sunday in Binghamton for a showdown at noon with the Bearcats.
