Stony Brook, N.Y. - The Stony Brook men's basketball team will open the 2004-05 season Friday night against Utah in Salt Lake City. Led by senior tri-captain, Cori Spencer, the squad looks to build on an impressive finish to last season with its deepest team since the move to Division I. Tip-off is 10 p.m. and the game will be broadcast live on WLIE 540 AM.

Radio: The game will be broadcast live on WLIE 540 AM and carried on the internet at www.goseawolves.org

About the Seawolves: Stony Brook enters its fifth season of America East action having been picked to finish seventh in the America East preseason poll. Five seniors return from a squad that finished eighth in the America East last season and advanced to the conference semifinals. It is led by Cori Spencer, who is the team's leading returning scorer from a year ago. Stony Brook's backcourt should be solid with Bobby Santiago at the point and sophomore Mitchell Beauford at the off guard. Seniors Mike Orfini, Mike Popoko and Jairus McCollum will see the bulk of the action at the forward positions.

Newcomers: Stony Brook welcomes five new faces to the lineup this season. Freshmen Antwan Hardy, Greg Lewis and Steve Harney join juniors Anthony Noble and Andre Vanterpool for their first season with the Seawolves.
