Stony Brook Falls At Bradley, 87-60

PEORIA, Ill. - Senior Dena Williams hit four consecutive baskets in the first half, keying an 18-0 first half Bradley run as the Braves women's basketball team cruised to an 87-60 season-opening victory against Stony Brook Sunday at Robertson Memorial Field House.

Stony Brook led 8-6 in the early going, before the Braves pressure defense and Williams presence in the middle kept the Seawolves scoreless for the next 7:18 of the first half as Bradley went on an 18-0 to take a 24-10 lead with 9:59 left in the half. Williams had eight points, four rebounds, one blocked shot and one steal to highlight the Braves run.

Stony Brook was unable to cut the lead under nine points as Bradley built a 44-25 halftime lead.

The Braves forced 29 Stony Brook turnovers and owned a 36-10 edge in points off turnovers in the contest. Williams finished with game highs of 21 points, 11 rebounds and four blocked shots, while hitting 9-of-14 shots in just 18 minutes of action.

Stony Brook had three players score in double figures, Inbar Orion led the way with 12 points while teammates Jessie Boylan and Mykeema Ford scored 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Stony Brook will travel to face Delware on Tuesday, Novemeber 30 at 7 p.m.
