Seawolves' Run Ends With 78-54 Loss To Maine

BOSTON (AP) - Kevin Reed and Udo Hadjisotirov each scored 17 points to lead Maine past Stony Brook 78-54 in the semifinals of the America East tournament on Sunday.

Reed pushed the Black Bears' lead to 46-30 with 12:40 left by scoring on three straight possessions, as he sandwiched a pair of layups around a 3-pointer.

No. 8 seed Stony Brook (10-20, 7-14), which shot 2-of-15 from 3-point range, never got any closer.

No. 4 seed Maine (20-9, 14-6) opened the game with a 13-0 run, but Stony Brook regrouped to take its only lead, 16-15, with 7:18 left in the first half. The Black Bears finished the half with a 13-5 run and led 32-24 at the break.

Cori Spencer led the Seawolves with 14 points, and Mitchell Beauford added 12 points. Leading scorer D.J. Munir scored six points on 3-of-16 shooting.

Eric Dobson scored 11 points, dished out eight assists and grabbed seven rebounds for Maine.

Maine earned its second berth in the conference championship in three years and will either host Hartford or travel to Vermont next Saturday for a chance to earn the first America East title in school history.
