Junior attacker Kelly Trahon tallied a game and career-high nine points to lead the Boston University women's lacrosse team to a 15-8 victory over America East rival Stony Brook at Nickerson Field Saturday night in Boston. The loss dropped the Seawolvs to 5-8 on the season, 1-3 in conference play.
B.U. raced out to a 4-1 lead at 16:30 as sophomore midfielder Lindsay Lewis scored three goals and Trahon scored her first of the game. Carlee Buck inched Stony Brook closer with her second goal of the game to narrow the gap to 4-2 at 14:42.
Trahon continued her assault on the SB net as she netted three goals and senior attacker Kylie Wagenet had a goal and an assist as B.U. took a 10-5 lead at the break. The Terriers scored four answered goals in the first nine minutes of the second half to put the game out of reach.
Danielle Werner finished with three goals while Andrea Venditti, Amy Taylor and Stephanie DeGennaro each added a goal in the loss. Gina DeNezzo started the game for Stony Brook, making nine saves while allowing 14 goals in the first 38:55 minutes. Jen Sandorv relieved DeNezzo, stopping seven shots and allowing one goal in the final 21:05 of the game.
The Terriers outshot the Seawolves, 42-13, and had a commanding 28-7 advantage in draw controls.
The Seawolves are back in action next Friday when they travel to Binghamton for a 4 p.m. start.
