The Stony Brook women's tennis team played well but dropped a 4-3 decision to Binghamton University on Thursday afternoon in Burlington, Vt. The Seawolves dropped to 6-7 overall and evened their America East record at 2-2.
Stony Brook fought hard against the Bearcats all afternoon, winning four of the seven matches played, but were forced to default a singles and doubles point that cost them the match.
The No. 1 doubles team of Anne Cathrine Valle and Georgia Bushell won 8-5, but the team of Lauren Conching and Victoria Vasile lost 8-2 in the No. 2 spot and the Seawolves defaulted at No. 3 to surrender the doubles point to Vermont.
Bushell and Vasile pulled out victories at No. 2 and No. 4 singles, respectively, while Olesya Ianovitch earned her first win of the season playing at No. 5, but the Catamounts won at No. 1 and No. 3 and took home the No. 6 singles point by default to win the match 4-3.
The Seawolves will look to even their record when they host Fairleigh Dickinson on Tuesday, April 13 at 3 p.m.
