The Stony Brook women's volleyball team fell to Buffalo 30-24, 28-30, 30-28, 30-25 in its final match of the Western New York Invitational on Saturday evening. With the loss, the Seawolves moved to 2-1 on the season, while Buffalo evened its record at 2-2.
After dropping the first game of the match 30-24, the Seawolves bounced back with 30-28 win in game two. Buffalo took a hard fought third game 30-28 and closed out Stony Brook with a 30-25 win in game four to secure the victory.
The Seawolves received terrific performances from several players, as Melissa Votruba led the Stony Brook attack with 16 kills and a .433 hitting percentage, while Morgan Sweany posted a double-double with 13 kills and 12 digs. Sarah Bauer added 12 kills and Maria Samilo chipped in with 11 kills and 3 block assists in the loss. Julie Zub continued her exceptional play, totaling 50 assists, 11 digs and seven kills, and was named to the Western New York Invitational All-Tournament Team for her efforts.
The Seawolves are back in action on Tuesday evening when they travel to St. John's to take on the Red Storm at 7 p.m.
